Ridley Helium 2017 re-build

Well have decided to re-vamp the Helium for 2017 and give it a Dura-Ace 9000 group-san make-over.

Already had the chainset and in December picked up some shifters and mechs.

So this week-end I've started swapping over some of the parts and checking the outer cables.

So some pics;

Outers are still ok but will re-do all the inners(old ones are left in at the mo to help with re-threading through the internal frame runs).

Hopeully have got some brakes sourced to complete the group.

Other stuff to get are Lizard Skins DSP black and white camo bar tape and a new chain(old ones still in spec so the new one will get fitted later).

Might if funds allow get a C-Bear pf30 bb as this is will be a proper bb for a hollowtech chainset and not a conversion that is fitted at the mo(plus it has posh ceramic bearings and is 'pro':becool:);will need some tools if I'm going to fit it myself though,but this may not happen so will hold fire until needed.

Oh and the steerer needs a bit more off it now that my position is settled.

Oh and should say the Ultegra is planned to go on the better halfs' Liv Avail although will probably need a matching chainset.

Did manage to fit the bottle cages at least;

Tomorrow will hopefully see the carbon steerer cut now I have the right blade:blink: and the bearings checked,cleaned and it all re-installed.

More stuff done today;

Steerer cut and head bearings cleaned and re-greased;few niggles with the cutting,had to space the cutter guide out as Park's own blade was to tight:rolleyes: and it could have been a straighter cut:whistle: but some judicious work with some sand paper sorted it.

Will look better with a bottle cap fitted:smile:(some Kwak being drunk tonight).

Then got the brake cables done and sorted the sizing of the outers for the gear cables.

Pic of the rear;

Also set up the bars and shifters with a spirit level:biggrin:.

So looking like this now, just the gear cables to finish and the mechs to set-up and bar tape to wrap.

Just about ready for some nice weather.

Bar tape fitted and only things left to do will be fitting some IRC tubeless tyres and a new KMC chain in the spring;will keep the Sectors and part-worn chain on until then(keeping an eye on the chain wear).

Saddle looks wromg but it's just the camera angle.

Looks Pimp - looks amazing!

Very Jealous

Really pleased with it;it's evolved a bit since I originally bought the frame,in fact thinking about it only the frameset and seatpost remain from the first build.Taken advantage of some people selling DA kit and some wheels plus bargains from CRC and the like to get it to it's current state.

Only been on one run and it flew along,will be good with the carbon wheels/tubs combo as well.

The only thing what still might be changed is the bb;looking at a C-Bear one that some of the pro teams use as it's not an adapter type and has fancy bling ceramic bearings but that may wait for a bit.
