so we're allowed to laugh at the "Walkie Talkie" and call the guy who designed it names, but we cant laugh at pictures of houses that have been posted on a public internet site?

the Walkie-Talkie disfigures the City of London. That's a big deal. Taste in ceilings is less of a big deal.

I have a soft spot for the stuff people do in private that goes against the taste grain. I like the second house. I know it's wasteful, and probably costs the planet a fortune to heat, but, fair play, they wanted a fancy ceiling and they got a fancy ceiling.

Fine, but I think that says more about you than it does about me.
Aw, Jen - has the agent asked you to drop the price a bit or something? And yes, I hope it does say more about me than you. I will continue to find amusement somehow...it would be a dull old world otherwise. It's the internet, CycleChat, The Café - and just look at that state of that - and all the slobs in lycra adorning the place all the time - like me for example!

His house is pretty awful as well.[/quote]

Your house is the Dolly Parton of Belgian houses, took a lot of money to make it look that trashy.

Too much bloody clutter (look at my stuff!) in both although I am strangely attracted to the blue LED lighting in the first one's kitchen.

I do like this one, the opposite of those 2, for sale opposite from my house, but..............I am 40% of the asking price short.................and always will be

Always hoped it would come up for sale, cycle access direct to the canal through the fields, thought it'd be about 350k.

Could be worse - anyone remember the ugly Belgian houses thread? Some real crackers on there.

http://uglybelgianhouses.tumblr.com/

I cycled over into Belgium last weekend and I'm not sure that any of the houses on that blog are especially exceptional - I did think about taking some photos, but I'd have been stopping every thirty seconds. Every house is different and there don't appear to be any planning laws. Jonathan Meades reckons it's because Belgium is the only country where architects sue each other for plagiarism, so they have to make sure that each house is pretty distinctive.

The City skyline was disfigured long before the WT came along. It's more akin to sticking an ugly ornament onto a rubbish dump. It doesn't improve it but it's not the root cause of the problem...
