Looks like I may be commuting to London on two wheels come June and was thinking about chopping my MTB in for a fast flat bar commuter. I already have a drop bar commuter but I am a fickle female and like variety
I quite fancy the extra braking power of discs for the wetter days. I expect my justifiable budget will be in the £500-600 range. Had a quick look around and these should fit the bill - either new or second hand will be ok. Don't want anything heavier than 11kg ideally. Oh and it must take mudguards and a fixed topeak dx rack
I'd like a carbon fork if at all possible (c**p London potholes), but I guess I could change that
Whyte Cambridge - really like it (British, unusual, looks great), but think the geometry is perhaps a bit too MTB (and will have to be used as £900 new)
Boardman Performance - downside - mechanical brakes, Halfords, but could get for £500 new with British Cycling discount
Kona Dew Deluxe 2012 - £550 from Evans, looks ok in the light green (£750 RRP) http://www.evanscycles.com/products/kona/dew-deluxe-2012-hybrid-bike-ec034478
Ridgeback flight 02 - carbon fork but £750 (and 11.4kg)
What else is there out there that is decent?
I am quite picky on colour - no all black or grey bikes please
I do not want another Specialized Sirrus (yes, they are surely great, but I have had two and they are everywhere)
Many thanks in advance
