Rim tape - good quality cheap source?

Seems like the sort of product that would lend itself to discounting from a specialists in bits and bobs easily and cheaply popped in a small bag for letter box delivery?
Anyone got a good source?
I am going to sit down and do some wheel tinkering and building with some new and second hand wheels - will need to use a bit of rim tape of various sizes as have had some issues with tyre seating lately - through improvising with using the wrong width I think.

Over here I make mine from strips of old innertube, they work great. Electrical tape can be used quite effectively, maybe wrapped around twice. Not for here though, climate a bit brutal for any type of tape glue, goes all manky.

You can get Velox rim tape from all good bike shops. If they don't stock Velox they don't count as good bike shops

electrical tape in my experience sinks into the holes so you end up with still sharp edges - may try doing twice.

Same stuff you use to mend a puncture - solvent glue. Roughen up a couple of inches at the overlap, apply solvent, wait till dried off, and press together. I clamp mine in the bench vice for a few minutes to get a good bond. Best to make the valve hole opposite the join. Lastly, smile smugly knowing you've recycled something

you mean the normal stuff which you slice thinner?
I know they do special bike tape, but thought it was only available for tubeless.

That is the one, I use it on my tubeless as well.

mm - interesting - it does seem to be good stuff - I have a fair bit, including some camo pattern I use on my exped tourer as cable rub protector.

The width of the tape is of course very important if you are to avoid tyre seating issues (hence my original question) - Isn't it tricky to cut the broad tape uniformally along its length?

Gorilla tape comes in a 25mm width too, but can be a bit thick for some tyre/rim combos. Plus it leaves gunk on the rim if you ever need to remove it, and it can be a bugger to get off.

I've stopped using Gorilla tape and now use Tesa 4288 (black), or 4289 (cream), which is dirt cheap for a 66m roll and virtually (if not) identical to the Stans stuff

I also use Gorilla Tape on my tubeless setup but put a layer of insulation tape on first before applying the ape tape, that way the gunk stays on the insulation tape when remove it.

Having used Stans, Orange Seal, Gorilla, and DT Swiss in the past, I stick with Tesa now. Its easily the best I've used. Once or twice round and you're done

Wow - we must be twins. I was going to post exactly the same. I switched from gorilla about a year ago because one one wheel of one bike I kept having a slow leak that I could not trace. The Tesa tape was absolutely perfect, I use it on all my rims tubeless and tubed.
