Hello there,
I want to buy a cycle trainer and I found one which comes with a 700x23 trainer tyre but I have no idea if it'll fit on my bike

The cycle that I wish to use has ETRTO 622x19 700C rims, 700 x 37C tyres and 700 x 32 / 35 / 38 inner tubes.

I might be completely wrong but would the trainer tyre fit on the rim but I would need to get a smaller inner tube?

Some advice would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

You'll be lucky to get a 23mm tyre to sit on a 19mm rim

tyre widths and rim sizes here suggest not:

The rule of thumb is tyre width of 1.8 times the rim width, so no, I'd say 23mm is too narrow for a 19mm rim. I don't know if you can get away with it on a trainer if it's the fixed-axle type (so no leaning) but I think that's just too far different.

http://www.sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html#width has a conservative chart.

And in general stick to ISO/ETRTO measurements when doing comparisons as they're less prone to confusion (like the many and varied sizes which are all called 26 inch!)

Anyone know where I could get a 30-38C trainer tyre for less than £15? The cheapest I can find is £35.

Would it be a huge issue to just use my normal tyre?
