Situation is............our first package holiday for many years. Flight is 08:00 so we have to check in by 06:00.
The lounge (think it's called Escape or Spires) would cost us £22.50 EACH (total £45.00).
As its our first for many years and this is my 70th I do not object to spending the money..........IF IT IS WORTH IT.
We would probably have a double vodka & fresh orange together with a bacon butty which is an expensive breakfast but-----in theory--------gives us some comfort for 2 hours.

I have looked on Trip Advisor and the reports could not be more varied...........possibly/maybe something to do with the time people go e.g.........is it busier later in the day ?

Any thoughts/comments welcome (preferably serious but not essential  )

Early morning booze and Bacon? I'd pay it.

Not worth it for me. They are generally quieter so if crowds irritate you or your wife go for it. If your both okay with it, go get a coffee and butty from the cafe and by that time it will be almost time to hunt the gate anyway.

In most major UK, EU and US airports I wouldn't bother, they're generally pretty civilised airports with plenty of seating, cafes, wifi etc.
It's worth paying if you're stuck somewhere less civilised or overcrowded, I paid for a lounge at Nairobi recently as it was a longish layover with nowhere to sit, no wifi, and no decent food. I've also paid at overcrowded Greek island airports where you couldn't find a place to stand, let alone sit.

Save the 40 odd notes for a meal on holiday.

Or just have the same at Wetherspoons for under a tenner?
Is there a Wetherspoons near the check in desk open at that time of the morning? If so, fantastic.

@Dave7 which terminal are you going from?

Midweek early mornings in T3 are full, with not a lot of spare seats in the central area.

T1's usually ok for seating, T2 don't know about as I never use that one.

When we book a holiday through an agent I get the quote and just before I pay the deposit I ask for a couple of free lounge passes. I've never been refused, they can get them discounted anyway. £45 is very steep though.
