I didn't realise she was that old either.

And her last show broadcast just 3 days ago (though probably recorded earlier).

People of my generation had Annie Nightingale and John Peel.
We were so lucky.

It’s a rare thing and very much against the grain.
Most people, me included give up on most new music by our 30s. And take comfort in the music of our youth.
It’s almost odd that she wasn’t like that.

I used to be a regular listener in the 80s. I think I pictured her as being a bit older than me at the time. She was actually about twice my age.

I have her to thank for such oddities as The Gollinski Brothers and And The Native Hipsters taking up room in my memory, plus many more that didn't last as long in my brain.

A contemporary of John Peel, he was just a year older. I always tend to associate the two of them.
Always liked her and her style.

I can still remember the first time I heard Plastic Bertrand's Ça Plane Pour Moi on her show

Sad news. I remember her on The Old Grey Whistle Test in i think it was the 1980's. Did she replace whispering Bob Harris, or did she stand in for him sometimes? 🤔
