Afficiandos of plotting the Mandlebrot set will have fond memories of getting their BBC computers and their peers from other manufacturers to spend several days plotting Mandlebrot sets and babble on about fractals.

That is sad.

I confess I used (many years ago) to be something of a nerd an addict myself, spent hours delving deeper and deeper into the Mandelbrot set. Each part of the perimeter of the original heart-shape led to different styles and whirly bits. Courtesy of an excellent bit of freeware called Fractint I believe, is it still around and has it been updated?

I owe a lot of something to Mandelbrot. RIP.

+1

I spent many hours delving into this amazing construct. I remember coding my own Mandelbrot set generator for a competition in Amiga Format (I think). I didn't win the comp but impressed my mates. Fractint brings back memories - I'm tempted to click on vernons' link, but maybe not. I spend too much time on the computer already...

RIP Benoit Mandelbrot.
