Very sad. I was more into bands like Quo (RIP Rick), but George was undoubtedly a great talent.
You do come up with some sad posts at times.

He was a part of my childhood, not that I was a huge fan but my mate who I walked to school with adored him, so we'd often sing our way home!

I once saw him do a live performance on a tv show and was bowled over by his amazing voice, never been a fan but he did put out some cracking tunes which have and will still stand the test of time.

This man was totally screwed over by the media. Built up and broken down.
He was a great singer/songwriter. I saw an episode of an american talent show some years ago. It was the early stages of the series and the budding stars were invited into a room to hear someone sing live. It was George Michael singing without a band or backup. I think he sang Careless Whisper. Gobsmackingly brilliant. I don't normally watch this kind of tv but it made an impression i won't easily forget.
