I feel old now. Corrie was a regular watch back in the days of living with my parents, they always tuned in and we had to sorta put up with it.
Characters I remember were Fred Gee, Albert Tatlock, Ena Sharples, Eddie Yates, Stan & Hilda Ogden, and many more of that era.
If I watched it now, doubt I'd know a single character.
One of my favorite bands, Status Quo, made an appearance at some point.
Think I'm right in saying Ben Kingsley and Joanna Lumley also appeared way back?

You are right, Joanna Lumley turned said No to Ken Barlow when he asked her if she'd marry him.

As I said earlier, Geoffrey Hinsliff who played Don Brennan had a luvvie voice. When I saw him being interviewed at some theatre he was wearing a cravat and spoke more like luvvie art critic Brian Sewell than 'By eck lad' 'Don Brennan'!!

I'd just like to point out that I sometimes wear a cravat, yet speak with a 'By eck lad' accent, unlike 'Don Brennan'. When I said he was wearing a cravat, it was more a neckerchief held together with a gold ring. Cravats are acceptable, but neckerchiefs um, maybe a bit luvvie.
