Very sad and only 76. Apparently he sued the hospital that he had open heart surgery in for a botched tracheotomy which paralysed his to vocal chords and removed part of his tongue.

Great band.

Yes - it's very sad news.

Does anyone remember the album 'Bodacious D.F.' ? It was more soul/rock than the Airplane and it was his first solo album after he left the group.

I'd give a fairly large part of my left arm just to listen to it again - particularly today

i've just listened to most of 'Bodacious D.F' since you posted about it. Yes,i'd say it's quite soulful. A bit like Curtis Mayfield and the Average White Band meets progressive rock. Well anyway,it sounds like that to me.

Only 76? Over the last few years I’ve known many to die before hitting 73 so I think for a man to die at around 75 is about right.
