Nooooooo!

I met him several times when I joined the police. At the time he lived in MK not that far from the centre and was always happy to stop and chat to me.

Saw him play with Blodwyn Pig several times. A very talented blues man.

R.I.P.

Sad news.
I actually preferred Blodwyn Pig over Jethro Tull.
Still listen to 'Ahead Rings Out' on a regular basis.
Saw the 'Pig at Birmingham Town Hall in the very early 70s.

Aye, that's where I started in the job, D division. Transferred when I split with the ex.

Did you know Tony Gibbons?

First RIP that I've actually known for a while..
Yep, saw him with Blodwyn Pig.
Got hold of Heads Out a while ago. Still sounds good 👍
I've got a feeling I met him when he was trying to join Colosseum but some things were a bit hazy back then 😋

RIP

Yes. Not on my shift but they overlapped so I saw him a lot.

A lad on my shift mentioned that he knew Tony's wife from school, and Tony went mad and threatened to kill him if he didnt stay away from her. A bit odd, as hed nefer actually even seen her since school. We got between the pair of them, which wasn't difficult because although Tony fancied himself as the tough guy martial artist he was only small.

A few days later it happened. The lad on my shift, Mark Owen (not the pop star) was quiet for some weeks, doubtless reflecting on the fact that hed been threatened with death by someone who turned out to be a murderer.

Laurie Yearly was my first skipper when I went independent. I was on the rota with Dave Bellew (a quiet guy but very good in a fight) and Andy Bellman(?) who wasn't with us long before he went to the dog section. Phil Peake (AKA Puke) was a re-joiner from Cambs on our shift who went wibble and was packed off to the control room. I knew Geoff Prescott who went mad and made a load of phone calls to women asking them about their boob's and he went to prison for that.

I went to Roads Policing at Newport Pagnell in 1996 which suited me well as it was a 5 minute walk to work. Left in '01 on a career break when I separated from the ex, went to work in the US. Applied for Beds, Northants and the Met. Beds wouldn't have me because id broken my pelvis as a kid, even though but then id done nearly 11 years in tvp. The met wouldn't have me besause of my tattoos (yet they'll empoig transferees so dodgy their nickname was "the rapist".) I passed the paper sift with Northants and came back for the medical, fitness test and interview and started there in April 2002, a year on response until a vacancy came up in RPU there.

Back I when Id joined (July 1990, went indepencent 21/01/91) good mate of mine was assistant manager at Chappells music and I'd often nip in for a coffee if on a foot beat. Mick was good mates with Jim Goff who worked in the store and was often in there himself, and thats how we got chatting. Me and Mick were never mates or the like but he'd always wave if he saw me about. Saw him play a brief charity gig at Chappells, and couple in one or the bars downstairs in the Point who's name eludes me.

My ex wife and I were on Tonys shift at MK. Tony was Kates tutor constable. Kate and Nikki were friends. We knew Tony before he met Nikki. We never had a problem with him. But there was no doubt he was a bit different. In his house, one bedroom was a weights room and another one was wall to wall aquariums with snakes and spiders. His nickname was Griefy. He could turn up at a very quiet incident and turn it into chaos within minutes. Everyone told Nikki not to get involved with him. But she did. Kate and I had left the force and moved up North when it happened. I read it in a magazine. That was a shocker. As odd as he was, I would never have thought he would do that. But after a while it was not all that much of a suprise to Kate and I.

Its a small world isn't it? 😁😁
