Very sad, his Radio 1 Breakfast show covered my adolescence and was what I listened to every morning when getting ready for school.

I detect some hypocrisy in some of the tributes from the media luvvies who previously described him as a DJ with no interest in music. He didn't have any means of playing music at home, but he did have a highly focussed self advancement strategy.
