I'm not sure what grounds he can cancel the transaction?

Blooming devious way of getting money out of people though

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Wherever there's a form-filling process there's someone offering to do it for you, for a sum. SOme of them (post office passport checking, I salute you!) add value. Some of them (claims management, complaint management) might or might not be worth it. Some of them genuinely aren't.

I came across this when getting my visa for Australia. When I searched on Google, the official Ausdie Govt site was listed way down the page after the paid ads and the look alike sites who did their best to get as close to the rules as possible by leaving it to the smallest print at the bottom of the page to mention that they were agents.

Easy enough.....

We had something similar with my MiL's passport, and they initially refused.

We then pointed out that as she was partially sighted, the single "warning" would not be evident and the fact the site was designed to look like the original would be misleading for her.

We were sure the local press would love it.......... and they relented

These websites are now alot more common and Google puts them at the top of their search list due to a nice backhander. The fact google is effectively encouraging people being conned and ripped off does not seem to be a problem to them.

Sort of. It's 'paid search', which I dislike and feels dodgy, but doesn't involve a brown paper envelope stuffed with cash.
