RIP to the truly great Rico Rodriguez MBE

I first saw Rico when he was backing the Specials at Erics in 1979 and then last saw him when he was backing Jools holland at the Echo Arena 33 years later. Both events, same city, lots happened in between but one thing that didn't change was the basic common decency of the man. We met him going into the same hotel we were staying in and he was charm itself, chatting to us and nothing was too much trouble. A wonderful man who lived a rich, full life.
