I was born before the first series, but we hardly watched ITV at all in our house, apart from the Saturday afternoon sports programme.
I knew it was famous for ropey prop[s, but didn't know any of the character names. I've only watched about 2-3 episodes of Coronation Street too, but did know a few of the character names from that.
