If you ever get to see 'The Hamsters', they have a routine where theymake it very clear, for the benefit of any younger people in the audience, that what they play is RnB and the accurate name for modern contemporary stuff is in fact; 'a load of f**king b*LLocks'.

Jeez i've had this argument with my dad a few times before! When you lot think about modern R n B (Bass) which artists do you think of? I can guarantee their all mainstream crap. Delve deeper and you'll find some great talent, especially in the UK.

But seriously, there's so much history involved, it's ignorant to call it crap, fine if it's personal preference but everyone should respect talent and culture when they see it!

I shall return to my knitting in due course but may I just point out that although I alerted you to the modern definition of RnB at no point did I say it wasn't rubbish, because it is.

I'm afraid to puncture the balloon of most the ageing white men on the thread, but the (mostly black) musicians who do RnB have more right to the term and what it means than you. Music evolves and changes. Is there anyone here who thinks Ornette Coleman isn't jazz because it isn't trad New Orleans style, or that large orchestras are just wrong?
And there's a thin line between knowing what you like and simple prejudice. I'm not sure how far some of you are over that line, but some of the generic comments about rap and RnB certainly smell a bit funny.
