Road Bike Purchase Advice

Hey all. I am new to the forum and relatively new into cycling.

About 6 months ago I purchased a Ribble SLe (hybrid) full carbon, Di2 group set and I love the bike.

i have signed up late next year to take part in London to Paris trip which I am really excited about. What I want to do is purchase another bike and I am really confused which way to go. I am hoping if I list some requirements and what I have been looking at someone maybe able to give me some pointers or direction.

So what I really like from my bike and musts for the next one is
1. Di2 group set or etap (which one is best I have no idea)
2. Disc brakes
3. Integrated cockpit (aero)

what I was looking at bike w
1. Trek Madone SL7
2. Pinarello F10/12
3. Specialised Sworks Venge

I also noticed some ones on eBay but naturally cautious with buying off here as I don’t want to be scammed.

any help I would really appreciate thanks in advance

How about a top end Ribble which you can spec what you exactly what you require Bang for for buck can't really be beat , only downside of a Ribble is they only offer a 3 year frame warranty compare to a lifetime one from the big 3 giant ,trek and specialized . As a giant fan Id recommend a top end TCR

I’m looking for your number 2 choice now ... F12, as far as I’m concerned it’s the best bike on the planet - otherwise I wouldn’t be buying one. Di2 and discs too , you can’t go wrong with that sort of pedigree ... but be prepared for the haters :becool:

Thanks for the response. The more I look at it the more I want one of these too.

are you buying directly from Pinarello and are you buying brand new ?

Any support would be great

I've got three Ribble bikes, they're good, they're not the poshest brand but the framesets are just as good as anything else.

I certainly wasn't knocking Ribble I was seriously considering one before I bought my TCR but the frame warranty swung it in giants favour
 
I looked at Ribble. Really nice bikes across all the range. I was tempted and happy to wait on delivery but after deciding in Carbon frame for what I want to do and Trek offering lifetime warranty I opted for an Emonda. (Despite the haters on here of plastic, disc brakes, shimano ugly shifters, buying mass produced, the big 3, blah blah blah. List goes on)
Ribble really really nice bikes and that Pinarello 😱

I certainly wasn't knocking Ribble I was seriously considering one before I bought my TCR but the frame warranty swung it in giants favour
given how many giant frames i have heard of and seen with cracked seat-tube/ top tube junctions (3) i would be cautious buying a giant without the warranty

There's a big difference in price between the trek and the other two? Like double?

Is that current model an e bike? Do you not want some of that functionality on this bike or are you looking for something completely new?

I'm just here to express my bike envy. Love my Canyon and recommend them as great value for money but you're out of my league with Pinarello F12, etc.

My first focus though if I had that budget would be making sure it was something I was going to be comfortable on. Personally I can't be doing with a slammed aero bike as it's just too uncomfortable for me but we're all different.

I agree. Moving from a hybrid to a race orientated bike like the F12 will be quite a significant change of positioning and will require a very good level of flexibility to ride that for prolonged periods/distances. A much better idea would be a bike with endurance geometry, which you can still get with Di2, discs etc, but will have the frame space to accommodate wider (more comfortable) tyres, have more stable/forgiving handling traits. Just because the Pros ride F12s, doesn't make them ideal for us mere mortals.
I'd be looking at a Canyon Endurace, or Trek endurance bike if the OP is set on a carbon frame. Personally, I'd be considering a nice titanium endurance bike if I was in a similar budget position.

The biggest thing I have never had before and was valuable was a full bike fitting and that took a fair amount of time with the manager who was really great. Didn’t push his agenda and was all about what was right for me. I had been to a couple of shops and tried a few out as I felt I had to do this such as Trek, Specilized etc.

Spill the beans,, What have you gone for?

A bike fit will have been very useful and probably quite informative
