Given the state of the roads around cramlington I would say hybrid

A sturdy road bike (aka a tourer).
The downside of getting a road bike though is that your MTB will start to feel neglected.

i was thinking that at first until me dad said i could keep the mtb at the parents place (which is in newcastle, so if i did that i would have more ground to explore when i stop up there for a few nights at a time, currently sat in the parents.missing my bike all alone at home lol  )

im tending toawrds the road bike.. think i will have a good read of the thread about changing to drop bars ^_^

Get a drop bar roadie if your keeping the mtb. A mtb with road tyres becomes a heavy hybrid anyway,so why buy another hybrid?

I was in the same boat - went for a proper roadie
