Its so reassuring to know that our Highways bods are thinking of all us road users and keeping our roads in tip top condition.
It was such a pleasure to have witnessed two of their loyal employees carrying out a repair right outside our entrance today. They were obviously well trained and very professional in their approach to the task in hand.
Two potholes, full of rainwater which had to be removed be...............erm no!!!
Preparation before laying the tarm............erm no!!!!!
Cleared up after th............erm no!!!
There's a much quicker easier way than all that crap, you just drive about in a pick-up in the rain with a bit of tar and a couple of shovels in the back, you don't even need to switch the engine off!!!! You just pull up if you see any of the little buggas (potholes that is) and fling some tar in them slap it down with one of the said shovels and off you go to your next "job".
Here a couple done earlier on the A485 between Carmarthen and Lampeter. Just as well it's very busy, as this enables the job to be "finished" by the traffic driving over the top of the fresh soft tar.
This method of highway maintenance does however secure future employment in the area, as after the frost gets to the water left under the tar, they will be able to start again
