currently wear Shimano R105 shoes. had them since Aug 2010 but find them narrow and they have contributed to a rather painful corn on my little toe. I have widish feet without them looking like out and out flippers. Am looking to spend under £100 for replacement. Recently tried on Northwave Vertigo Pros and a pair of Lakes in a LBS. Does anyone have any other recommendations for wider fitting shoes at that price point?

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
Also with wide feet I found the Specialized shoes to be better - which is why I bought some BG Comp Road shoes.

I'm a 10/10.5 and 25cm around the ball of the foot and bought these on a recommendation from another CC user.

I bought a 46, but could probably have got away with a 45 (my usual size); as the very helpful guy at the shop told me, they don't come up as small as Italian shoes normally do.

Great quality, classy looking, super stiff and better value than Shimano, in my opinion.

They also have an Ebay shop and I think they were a fiver cheaper there.

I also find Shimano shoes to be too marrow narrow and like DCLane I use Specialized shoes but have to go a size up from my normal everyday shoes. A visit to your LBS would be worthwhile.

I found Shimano to be far too narrow, even when I went up two sizes. Specialized were a perfect fit on the width

Ive got some pearl izumi 'quest' shoes because they were half price. Unfortunately i was in this mindset that i decided 'i wanted to be able to walk in them' so i settled for 2 bolt pedals and mtb shoes. On reflection i find them really cumbersome and i feel the two bolt pedals feel uncomfortable. So i think a re-think is required once i have some money

As with previous posts above, adding my two penneth; my first pair were northwave and were a top fit (had for two years). I ordered some shimano in a heavily reduced sale around the same size as my northwave. These crippled my feet as they are too narrow and even going up a couple of sizes would not have helped (agree with you here Tomba).

I have since got round to trying some shoes on in the CRC shop (bonus from visiting the family over in N.Ireland), and got a pair of Giro Trans whom went up in half sizes. These fit really well but will have to put them through the paces when the weather improves, I will break them in on the turbo if I can get round to fitting the Look pedals which is on my to-do list.

I got dhb R1's as they take both 2 and 3 bolt cleats and I have M520's at the mo but thinking of going to proper road pedals soon. I have wide feet (Clarks G fitting) and have found these comfortable.
