Its a sop so when people complain the LA can say theyve done something.

It's worrying how unobservant some drivers actually are.

It scares me to sit in a car with my sister driving. She has no situational awareness whatsoever, and goes around completely oblivious to everyone else on the road. Slow down, speed up, stand on the brakes to admire someone's garden, labour the engine up hill at 20 mph in top gear, then rev its nuts off in 2nd or 3rd on a dual carriageway.

She never seems to hit anything, I have no idea how! Everyone else makes allowances. She complains that my BIL is always criticising her driving when he is in the car with her....

Everyone makes allowances. People pretend that driving is an activity that most people can do safely and anyone who reckons they can't must have something wrong with them. Sometimes the reason is socially acceptable, such as age or illness, but often it isn't and people who even just say they'd prefer not to drive are asked "what's wrong with you?" or similar. Let alone those who think they're fine but aren't. How can we flip the narrative and make poor driving as unacceptable as it currently is to say you'd rather get a train or coach, if there was one?
