If I remember rightly (from few years ago), it's an honesty box.
It's a private road from the ruins of the priory to the end of the peninsula, where there's a couple of cottages and the lighthouse.
But it's the end of the island, anyone driving out past Beaumaris to there is a sightseer who will want to go right out to the tip and look at the viewpoint.
I do love going over it on the bike and just riding round the queuing cars at the toll booth
Interestingly, did you know that the toll is not for Warby Bridge itself but for the 100m or so of road on the village side of it, where the toll booth is ?
Of course, traffic is paying to go over the canal on the bridge, but you could legitimately come over from the North side, turn round before the toll booth and go back over the bridge again and wouldn't be liable to pay anything !
Came across a toll road somewhere in Devon once. There was an old guy sitting in a canvas chair with a tupperware pot for the cash. He wasn't very busy.
I think all the tolls in Scotland have been scrapped. Only months before they scrapped them on the FRB they built a multi million pound toll plaza. I think now there gone traffic has went up and now there's less funds for maintenance
