Just want to say hi to all as this is my first post, sorry that my first is a bit of a moan. Its all well and good the powers that be trying to convince everyone that cycling to and from work is the way to go, which i totally agree with, but the top dogs really need to put their money were their mouths are and take a good look at the state of the majority of our roads. On my daily 7.5 mile commute to work through liverpool city centre and out the other end to a suburb called Aintree, i would say that a bridal path is less pot-holy and bumpy than my route. not to mention the usual smashed bus shelter ( with shards of glass all over the road). dont get me wrong i still absolutely love the ride to and from work but for new commuters to feel confident and comfortable on the roads these issues need to be seriously addressed.

ok thats it... thats my moan over with, i promise that my future waffling will be brighter.

completely agree, I am considering adding a suspension seat post to my bike to counter the jarring from potholes...

My BIL is getting fed up with having punctures from the glass on the path of his rural/city commute too. I can recommend Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres if you haven't tried them.

Welcome to Cycle Chat - I'm fairly new here myself - seems a good place to be.

Welcom to the forum. Confidence will grow with time, along with an element of sixth sense that generally alerts you to trouble - also you tend to find alternative variations to make the ride better. You will soon get the bug properly.

I agree with your sentiment though, it can be quite daunting to start, employers need to do more to encourage it as well - things like showers and lockers when you get to work would help.

In my BIL's case, the road is the A9. I can quite understand him riding on the path.

Was reading last night in the CTC's bi-monthly magazine that Liverpool is the worst offender for not fixing pot-holes according to records from their FillThatHole campaign.

0% out of 80 reported
