He was a bit of a misogynist, but that's equally true of a fair few authors...

Personally, I loved the Witches, as a kid that was terrifying.
 
Matilda and The Witches are fab!! Never liked his stuff as a kid though. What's that weird one for adults called again about the Royal Jelly? Can't even remember the plot, just that it was strange, but good.

I' a big fan of Danny Champion of the World, but I really think Fantastic Mr Fox is absolutely brilliant. The Twits is top dollar entertainment, too.

Danny the Champion of the World was one of my favourites when I was young. I could read it tomorrow and still enjoy it. I loved james and the Giant Peach too.

i never realised he also wrote the screenplay for "you only live twice" until i watched it this afternoon.

why has noone mentioned sophie dahl (his granddaughter) yet?

i was disapoointed when i found out that bfg stood for big friendly giant :blush:
