Woohoo and Wahey! Just set a new personal best for the commute

From Ashton-under-Lyne to Hazel Grove

There - 10.46mls, 31m09s, Av=20.1mph

Back - 10.89mls, 35m07s, Av=18.6mph

Overall - 19.3mph Av

Breaking the 20mph Av speed for the trip in is fantastic and as this was achieved on my hybrid with two rear panniers and not on my skinny road bike I wonder what it would have been if I had taken the 'fast' bike? It's a shame the return trip is always slightly slower. I put this down to the fact that Ashton is slightly higher than Stockport so the outbound trip is always going to be the quickest.

EDIT: Just checked and the height difference between work and home is about 100ft.

How much does it cost to Oldham?
Quite satisfying isn't it. Now go and chew on a wildebeests' leg.

Well done that man!
Unfortunately, my cycling buddy has just completed a 100 mile sportive at exactly the same average speed, and that was based on actual time rather than riding time....................which is why I hate him and will have to kill him soon. And he's only 4 years younger than me.

If you can't get hold of a wildebeest leg to chew on, I think I might be able to get you an 'unbranded' one when I dismember the body when I get back from my holiday.

+1 Strava is the way forward, although due to the hassle of remembering to set my phone I can't stop browsing the Garmin website and my internet banking simulateously, just wondering whether food is really more important than KOMs!

Well done on your times btw, I'm a SCR too!
