Why did the his wife want the certificate backdating?
Not sure she actually did, it could again be a legal thing, she wanted the marriage annulled so she could get remarried, she must have chosen a specific earthquake as the date she believed he died in. It does now begs the question could she now be prosecuted for bigamy if he is found to be alive?

Bigamy is an intreging offence; There are plenty of singletons who may have multiple partners yet are not married so it is ‘ok’ but the moment they get married it becomes an offence because of legislation. In the prior you would be entitled to peruse the other parent for support if their were children. If we then think about pologamy then surely it makes no sense to prosecute if the family is potentially more stable then a single parent and all parents support the children.

I wouldn’t fancy been a judge who has to unpick the complex topic.
