The BBC had an interesting article here about room temperature indoors and it made me wonder, if the range is so big, what temp is a good temp for indoors.

My girlfriends relatives would rather stick two jumpers on than turn up the heating whereas my auntie has had her house up to 92 fahrenheit on several occasions because 'she feels cold' so it seems like one person's pleasure...

So what's yours?

Usually around 16-17C.

I find 19-20C comfortable if I'm just sitting working or watching tv. If I'm doing housework or diy, 16 or 17C would be plenty. As the temperature in our house doesn't really drop below about 16C since we had it fully insulated, it works out pretty well. +1 on the putting on a jumper, by the way - I'd rather do that than ramp up the heating. We have one of those card thermometers where there are different colour zones to tell you if you are in a 'comfort' range, and I have to say most of the time it's pretty accurate. We stay in the lower end of the 'warm enough' area.

Usually 17C, but this winter's been so cold I relented, and put it up to 18C... occasionally have a coal fire going when really cold outside, so living room goes up to 12 billion C

heating set to a whole range of temps during the day, between 13c - 16c. At night (10pm-7am) its 9c
It does mean if we sit around, an extra jumper and blanket are essential.

Set at home to 20c. I like it toasty and warm.

Depends which rooms. The kitchen is usually 10-14C unless the oven is on. The Hall is colder. The main rooms are about 15 or 16C.

Generally I agree, we're becoming a nation of softies, we have these very lavish systems and yet complain how 'cold' it is.

20.5C during the day. Due to having to get up during the night for our youngest, it is set to 19C at night, but now she is sleeping through I think it is about time to drop it a little.....

I only put the heating on when I really feel the need, so at the minute - after work 5pm til 10pm, and then about 15-17 C.

The thermostat's set to 16C for the heating but just at the moment, with the sun on black blinds, it's probably got up to about 30C in my office (which is in the house) which makes the rest of the house seem a bit chilly

Just have to stay in the office and work - or not

Sitting at home next to my PC at the minute (and a wee alarm clock with temp display), with the window open for fresh air and it's 18.5C. Our heating is set to 21C though, and it's no longer on all day long (though it's been a bit colder this week, roll on the spring).
