it's 33.4 deg here in my computer room.. (because of all the computers). the radiator in here has been shut off for 2 years, and the window is open year round, but it still never drops below 30...
yes.. it's hot.. and yes.. I get very sweaty in here.. but. short of air-conning the room.. windows open and heat off is best I can do (

No double glazing or central heating Chez Col!

Basement utility room - unheated.

What would be the main living room in most people's houses is a bike shed, gym, store room in mine and though it has a gas fire, I never use it - unheated.

Kitchen - unheated, except by cooking.

Lower stairs, landing, upper stairs - unheated except by heat that escapes from elsewhere.

First floor room which most people would have as a bedroom, but is my living room - unheated unless temperature drops below about 10 degrees C, then it is whatever temperature the little gas wall heater gets it to. It is actually quite efficient so I would prefer not to turn it on above 10 degrees unless visiting softies make me.

My attic bedroom/office has a gas fire which is incapable of going low enough for me so I don't tend to light it until the temperature drops below 10 degrees. I get fuzzy-headed once the temperature gets above 20 degrees so unless it is very cold outside, I'd probably turn the fire off every now and then to let the room cool down a bit.

Bathroom - unheated. Usually only receives heat from elsewhere in house plus heat escaping from the water heater. Unfortunately ... the cold winter completely killed the bugger! It froze up and cracked a pipe and I can't afford to get it fixed. The front of the heater is off to allow the escaping water to drip down into the cistern below. This means that there is effectively a hole in the bathroom wall allowing an icy blast in. So bathroom temperature = close to external ambient at times. Washing in cold water in a room at freezing point is character-forming! I could boil a kettle, but I only bother when I'm washing my hair.

The lack of hot water over the past couple of months has had me doing the washing up in my unheated kitchen with cold water. You get used to it, and the feeling comes back in my fingers after an hour or so ... ;)

And that's pretty cold!

I find anything below 20c to cold for sitting around watching TV or on the PC

Currently the kitchen, where the PC is, is at 19c and it's a bit on the chilly side (and I'm in a jumper)
Its 3c outside at the moment and we have traditional sash windows so not great for heat retention

The average summer temperature in the UK is (apparently) 15.6 C. Do you have your heating on all year round except for the odd hot day?

I could happily sleep on top of the duvet, no PJs, window open at 20 C and I would feel very comfortable.

My thermostat is set to 15C for about an hour in the morning and from 6-11pm in the evening, 7C at night, 12C during the day (never gets this cold unless I am on holiday).

If I am out all day or during the evening I will turn the heating off and turn it back on when I get home.

Currently 13C but with thermal socks and a couple of sweatshirts it is comfortable.

hmm... Where to begin?
I create virtualisation scenarios (virtual machines, and virtualised networks) to proof of concept and test software for a consultancy I'm involved in. We do tools for the listed derivatives traders. I do quite a bit of CAD, FEA and CFD for various projects I'm involved in (including several bicycle components I've designed, which you'll see on the market within the next 6months). I've been doing UltraSparc ports of MariaDB for about a year just kicking something back to the community. I refine and run math models based on predictive pricing algorithms, again for the listed derivatives markets. I'm part of the GIMPS (great internet mersenne prime search -- currently sitting at #38 or 39)..
And occasionally, I play an hour or two of Open Arena or Nexuiz ..

About 17-18c in our house when on timed. TBH we dropped it to about 15c when it was really cold, but had the heating on 24/7 so the house was nice and comfortable, and the radiators were just warm - boiler just on tick over.

My muscles spasm in the cold so we have the living room at 22/23C but the rest of the house is more like 16C. If I sit still in anything less than 20C without layered clothing all over I end up in pain. So when I worked in a room which had an all year ambient temperature of 16C I used to put on a thick pullover (Often over a thinner one.) and thick, quilt lined leather leather jacket as I walked in and take them off when I left.

When it is just me in the house the temp. is set to 17c. When MrsP comes in she automaticly turns it up to 20. Once the temperature has gone up and the thermostat has turned the boiler off, as the temperature goes down a degree or so before the boiler comes back on, MrsP says it is cold and turns the thermostat up again. It is costing me a fortune in gas bills this year.
