ever thought that the less academic, therefore less likely to succeed at exams, are more likely to be the ones who skip school. that would explain the graphs quite well.
I'm sure there are many factors that will not be represented in a simple graph. Even with all the facts there would also be the question of cause and effect. it's never going to be as simple as x=y or Vernon's opinion.
It isn't my subject of expertise, I wouldn't know if the majority opinion expressed by the education authorities is any more valid than Vernon's. I suspect it's somewhere in between and a lot more complex than this thread will establish. It seems well established that covering a subject three times is effective, at all levels of education. It would therefore follow logic that to miss one would be a disadvantage and there should be an advantage to other pupils if a teachers time isn't spent helping a minority to catch up. I do think that expressing an opinion as fact and patronising those who question it as slow learners, along with the accusation that all head teachers are liers, is unlikely to improve anyone's understanding.

Think yourself lucky youre not in the Army, where 2 or 3 days of your leave could be spent travelling back from wherever on the World you were posted.

I seem to remember a lad who was in my regiment getting extra time for travel. He lived in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. However that was over 30 years ago, things may have changed somewhat!

Do you work in education ? SWMBO does - she gets her long service award next year for the borough. I asked her opinion and she said that liars was a bit striong- habitual untruth tellers would closer

The army guy next door to me used to get a long holiday after each posting, he also finished lunch time Fridays and had Wednesday afternoon off for sport.

Would I do his job? no way they are all hero's in my opinion and one of those I am certainly not.

Teachers accusing head teachers, what is that saying about criticizing a person before you have walked in their shoes.

As I said earlier how come most off the people above the lower ranks in most trades are muppets etc. How many people do not want higher wages?

I work for myself and earn way less than I used to but I am "free" and far happier. The thought of knowing when you are taking (having to) your holidays for way into the future is an utterly depressing thought, it's not human, I'd look for another job OP.

Could those with a broader agenda, or lack of drive and ability to rise through the ranks not achieve more by being higher up the scale. Mind you I suppose they do not want the muppet tag that goes with more responsibility, often more work and higher wage.

I should add that I have owned my own businesses for 39 years so have no idea what a paid holiday would be like.
same when i was self employed, i did however factor into the pricing of jobs the cost of 2 weeks somewhere hot and sunny. I went back into working for somebody else when i was spending more time chasing payment than actually doing the work. I don't earn anywhere near as much but its a good trade off.
