Roundabouts where people give way to you even though it isn't your turn.

They wait, the numpties to my right. I wait. They wait. I think: "Well, it's not my turn, but if you're not going I am!"

the old, 'after you' dilemma. if i get to the RAB and i've already unclipped, i'll stop and motion them, in the style of of traffic directing person in white gloves, to take the RAB and be on their way...if not then i'll put my hand up to acknowledge them and to let them know i'm going...a bit like dropping in to a half pipe at the skate park when i were a lad...'DROPPING IN!'

I tend to hurtle towards roundabouts and have often had people think that I am just going to speed out infront of them. I shouldnt really do it because it frightens some people but I would never just pull out infront of a car.

I had a situation last night where, even though I was on the RAB, I waved a bus to go first, he waved me to go first and so on for a few seconds until the bus went first, how we laughed.
Did not see the point of getting in front of the bus when I was about to turn into a strong headwind plus the draft from the bus was useful.

that's the one - unless the traffic is backed up they're always likely to pass you again, or sit behind you stressing about how they 'should've gone first'

Politer bus driver than London ones. I was riding home last night with bus hurtling toward s me on my side of the road, I waved a get over to your side gesture and he stopped so I stopped alongside and he said "I had to be on your suide as i was passing the parked Van" he seemed bemused when I pointed out that the parked van was on his side of the road and therefore he should giveway to me.

After you .........
No after you ...........
Really, after you .............
No really after you ............
Are you sure?
Yes, I'm sure.
Quite, sure?
Yes, quite sure!
I don't want to appear to be pushing in.
You are not pushing in.
But surely I am.
No you're not.
But I am!
No you are not, I am inviting you in.
You are so kind. Are you sure it is alright?
Quite sure.
I really don't want to be an inconvenience.
You are not being an inconvenience.
Oh, but I am!
No you are not!
But I am!
Yes you are. P**s off you just lost your place!
How rude! W****r!

I'd be astonished at having any Melbourne motorist give way to me at a roundabout when they got there first. Typically, they play a game of 'chicken' and try to force me to give way even when I'm in the roundabout and they've only just got near the roundabout. In other words, they drive up to the roundabout showing no signs of slowing down, then either brake hard at the last second or just shoot on through. Idiots.

Worse on a motorbike. Approach in second, slow down as car approaching. Slow down even more as the car is taking its time, and then stop altogether at the last second as they're crawling along. Only for the car to also stop.

They then motion you to go, which would involve a couple of foot swaps, and if you're unlucky rocking the bike back and forth to get first to engage properly... While they wonder what's taking you so long to pull away. No thanks, you first.:cursing:

very bad technique.

When i was learning to drive, my instructor gave me severe bollockings for not slowing fro roundabouts even if i could see than to be clear.

Would you be happy for a car to do the same to you??!!
