er, 360 would leave you pointing in the way you were originally going - i.e. straight over the roundabout.
180 would leave you going back on yourself (i.e. back down the road you have just come up).

I suppose it all depends on what you mean by 'doing' 360 degrees.
I interpreted it as turning 360 degrees (so you end up facing the way you started).
If however you are talking about the section of the circumference of the roundabout you travel around, then ignore my blethering above...

I have a roundabout like that near me. The left lane is for turning left only and the right lane is for going straight on and turning right. I always see people ignoring the road markings though and going straight on in the left lane. Makes for a lot of beeping from other cars. Tomorrow I will do a little 'How to' video of the junction and how I would tackle it.

Please don't.

Well when politicians are accused of "doing a 180" it doesn't mean they are continuing on their previous course. :tongue:

This is because most politicians (I think all except the late Cyril Smith and Tony Benn) are former pro skateboarders. This is a fact.

This would lend them to think in terms of a 180 being a sort of political (metaphorical) volta face.

However, if one looks at a roundabout as a sort of windrose, then to enter a roundabout and drive (or cycle) the full 360 degrees round it would involve one completing a full circle and using the opposing carriageway of one's ingress as an egress.

Were one to complete that single revolution (not in socio-political terms) and continue round the junction a further 180 degrees, the total number of degrees by which one has circumnavigated the junction may be described as 540 degrees.

However, as has been pointed out above, the manoevre I describe is selfish and wrong. Which is why I never do it and never have.

It's not just about bike placement it's also about your body language & confidence on the bike. If you look timid & uncertain doing everything to take your lane won't do you much good. :sad:

^^^^^ This is over half the battle! I will happily tackle motorway intersection roundabouts in the middle of rush hour and don't have any incidents doing this. Often the key is to do it with confidence, bravado and presence. As you rock-up at the roundabout at the front of the queue, filtering in front of the waiting cars, they might all think "look at that kn*bhead going around here on a bicycle!" but this also means they have seen you and adjusted their plan to allow for you. If you creep around, shy as a mouse and twice as timid they don't even register you most of the time!

You entered left centre of the lane, moved over to right edge of the lane then centre again to exit, if you had followed the centre line of the lane you would have slotted in behind the red car.

the cycle training guidance is:
9. Roundabouts. Arrive at, and move through roundabouts, in the middle of the most appropriate lane.
 
Sounds like he totally nailed the apex to me.

One sees the likes of Cancellara and Evans doing this on fast descents, but for most of us it is only a dream.

I demand to see a link to the section in question. I do not request it; I demand it!!

It will not have been properly discussed until page eight - after which any sensible person would conclude that I was right all along.

Your mistake was proffering and then failing to post the instructional video: "How to tackle a Rhyl Roundabout with a Helmet Cam" as you had promised some of your more rabid followers earlier in the thread. This disappointment "forced" PK99 (a serious monkeynuts groupie student of cycling best practice) to reference one of your earlier YouTube roundabout uploads as there was an unusually small amount of constructive criticism of your riding in this totally unrelated thread.
