Hi All
I'm giving serious thought to trying the commute from home to work on my bike . .Little Sutton to Whitchurch

The only problem is that the A41 from south of Chester through to Whitchurch , is not really a road I'd be happy cycling along . . .

So, I'm thinking that I should go along the A41 to the turning for Aldford / Saighton (which I am happy to do) ; then follow that road all the way through to Farndon ; from there I can cross over the A534 Wrexham road . . . . .

But after that I'm unsure of the best way to Whitchurch, as there are so many small lanes, but none seem to head directly for Whitchurch . . . Now I know I could look at a map and sort out a route , but I was hoping someone on here might have experience of this area and could provide directions .? ??

Many thanks in advance

Hi NealM

These are roads I ride regularly, living between Chester and Whitchurch. That will be a very long ride if you were to do it every day!
I'd go into Chester, and take Sandy Lane (behind the Bill Smith motorbike shop in Boughton), to Huntington, then Aldford and on to the kennels at Farndon (Sibbersfield Lane) to the A534. Straight across, and then 1st left along Wetreins Lane to Tilston, then Malpas, and on to the A41 at Grindley Brook, then into Whitchurch. I reckon that's a 2 hour ride. Some of the surfaces are a bit rough too.

The B5130 road (Huntington to Farndon) is a bit of a rat run at rush hour (in rural Cheshire!) but OK, if care taken, after the A534 it's all very rural (watch for the cow sh!t) until Grindley Brook - but you are home by then.

Pop in for a coffee as you pass the Cross in Malpas!

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Oh, *that* Whitchurch. Not the one in Buckinghamshire that's also near the A1.
