me and the g/f are all booked up for the c2c whitehaven-keswick-kirkoswald-rookhope-sunderland starting on the 25 july just need to know if there is a good way back to sedgefield area

I live in sunderland and it couldn't be easier !

NCN1 South goes right past where the c2c finishes (Roker sea front).

Basically, it's along the North side of the Wear to Wearmouth bridge, through the city centre and along Durham Road to the Barnes, left at Sainsburys and through Silksworth, past Tunstall Hill and Ryhope Golf Club to the start of the old train line (now a cycle path). This will take you past Murton, South Hetton, Shotton Colliery and Wingate. Turn right when you reach the A689 and it's a couple of miles into Sedgefield. Should only take you a couple of hours as it's pretty much flat all the way !
