Route Query: Chester Greenway & River Dee Cycleway on a recumbent trike. Barrier issues?

A quick query for those in the Cheshire area or how have cycled there with a recumbent trike....

The Greenway I think I will be able to get the trike onto without an issue at the Mickle Trafford end. Can anyone shed any light on the far end at Connors Quay? I am pretty certain I should be able to get off there without an issue.

The River Dee cycle way I have more concerns over. I seem to remember A frame style bollard thingys... Can anyone enlighten me please? I don't think, in fact I am pretty certain that I won't be able to get the trike through them. I am certain that I remember some around a road bridge controlled by traffic lights (the bridge was) and that the bridge was single track. I don't want to be able to get on to the cycle way and not get off again.

The plan is to use the Greenway for its entire length next weekend on a 50 mile attempt ride (first time on the trike) and we had hoped to include part of the River Dee cycle way which we used to do on the road bikes. We usually went back to the pedestrian bridge before heading over that bridge and onto roads from there. The aim being to shorten the old route a touch, but keep to what we know as much as possible for the first time at this distance for me since my back went.

This being the planned start of the route (obviously just use which bit counts...) https://www.strava.com/activities/171612140

thank you. everything depends on how the previous day goes (family funeral) and how much it exhausts me, plus what the weather is on the day, but we know I can manage 42km easily in the morning (I am doing that most weekends now) and have done several +60km rides so an 80km should be OK on roads and routes I know because I will know how much and how well to pace myself plus what is coming. But it is going to need to be planned carefully. Finger's crossed.

There are a fair number of motor bike barriers (frame thingys) along the river dee path which you can just squeeze a road bike through, so you'd probably find it difficult. None (?) on the cycle path - greenway that goes through Blacon. The paths join up opposite Shotton. I seem to remember some barriers when getting off there, but can't remember type (sorry) ... There is a standard barrier at the Mickle Trafford end which should be able to access (possibly), if not try the Guilden Sutton entry point a mile or so away where I don't remember there being any barriers. If it was difficult to get off at Shotton, try heading over the B5441 which is a mile or two before Shotton?

BTW - no experience of a recumbent though ...

Thanks. We cycle passed the Mickle Trafford end of the greenest most weekends so I'm pretty certain that wiggle type barrier won't be a problem other than my triking... I'm reaching the conclusion that the River Dee won't be an option which if a real shame because I rather like it and it was always a good place for lunch!

There are A frames at the Saltney ped bridge (at least), so you won't get passed those on the river Dee. Without the lunch constraint, you should be able to jump off the Blacon cycle path and get into North Wales on the B5441. Not the most picturesque road, but not too long either ...

Watch out for speed humps in Blacon.

This is what happens with cycle infrastructure in Britain, it starts off all right, then bit by bit it's downgraded with the addition of speed humps and ironwork to prevent use by its intended target population.

Watch out for speed humps in Blacon.

My kids like riding fast over them.
Perhaps not the intended effect ^_^

A bit late to this but..

I ride on there most weeks: if you take the Greenway the only place you'd have a problem is getting off the railway bridge in Shotton as there is an 'A' frame at the bottom of the exit ramp, which is a shame because you're nearly at the end of the cycle path there! You can miss the one out at Dock Rd carpark by using on of the gates along there.

You could get off the path at the blue cycle bridge at RAF Sealand and come down through Garden City/Queensferry...
