Hi all

On Wednesday, I'm going to an evening lecture held at the Manchester Marriott hotel near the airport.
The lecture starts at 6:30pm, so if I get out of work at 5ish I have around an hour to get there. I think traffic at that time will be dreadful on the M56, so I'm thinking of cycling straight from work.
Has anyone got any route suggestions? I've had a look on cyclestreets, but local knowledge and advise would be appreciated.

I've got a road bike and a magicshine front light.

thanks in advance

That looks like a really good route! A lot better than the one cyclestreets churned out which had me zig-zagging through Wythenshawe.
Thanks

Depending on the bike you have......maybe down the canal and jump off at Altrincham and through Hale (A538).....or a very flat (roadbike route) oxford rd/palatine rd to Northernden, left up though Styal Rd, right onto Ringway rd onto Thornley rd......it is quicker if you have a bit of local knowledge for Wythenshawe...

I am not sure about the lighting in Wythenshawe park. I made the mistake of going through Painswick park a few nights ago. Pitch dark, it was scary!

It's OK I have a magicshine light. If pointed straigh ahead it gets quite retina searing.

Looks a decent route, I've not been through the park in a while.....the roads round the back of the hospital aren't the best for a bike at night(narrow).....have a nosey on street view.

That's probably the worst route to the airport in an evening.
