Hi everyone, I need to ask for advice what would be the best route to take from Putney to Marylebone, Cosway Street. I recently was offered a new job and naturally want to cycle to work (taking overcrowded tube or being stuck in traffic on the bus fills me with dread), as it's a manageable 9 miles from where I live. I've been riding around London nearly 3 years now (so know how to handle myself in traffic, always erring on the cautions side), but it's been south of the river.
Many thanks for any advice.

Putney bridge, Right into new kings road, leads to kings road, left into Sydney street, right onto fulham road, left onto sydney place, right onto thurloe place, left onto exhibition road, straight up into hyde park, right onto north carriage drive, left half way down onto a shared use path that leads over hyde park place and into albion street, right on Connaught street, left on kendal street, over edgware road and into george street, left into seymore place, left onto york street, right onto old marylebone road, straight over onto cosway street.

I have a tcx file of this route which I can send you. If anyone knows of anywhere that I can map this and then send it, let me know.

You can do it on Google Maps, but probably not with a TCX file (you'd have to do it from scratch).

Thank you for your input, very much appreciated
Don't worry about the tcx file Gaz, I don't have a Garmin (I'm not that fast to need one yet), so I wont be able to use it. There is a way of converting in to gpx which I found online, if you ever needed to change one into the other https://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=67780.0

I did a trial run today (had to drop of something for someone at Old Marylebone Road) and got lost on my way, which was a bit frustrating, but with the help of my trusty Android maps managed to find my way there:smile: It's actually not too bad, the worst bit - horrible Putney High Street (roadworks don't help) and some idiot on the Fulham Road overtaking whilst I was overtaking a stationary van and beeping at me for no good reason. :cursing: I really enjoyed riding through the Hyde Park - think once I start working, might even stop there for a bit to relax before going home.
Coming back wasn't too bad - I knew my way back to Hyde Park and for the rest of it just decided to keep things simple till I learn the route better then can use the back streets - so I went straight down to Queens Gate, through Onslow Gardens and Old Church Street to New Kings Road (much nicer to cycle along then Fulham Road!) then all the way to Putney. Well, I'm looking forward to commuting to work and I guess not many people in London (unless they cycle of course) can say that.

If you don't want to juggle to Fulham traffic you can always stick to the river going through Wandsworth Park, over Wandsworth Bridge, right through Chelsea Harbour onto the Embankment ( part of the Embankment pavement are open to cyclists and then you swap to the blue lanes) then to Horseferry Road, Birdcage, past the Palace to Hyde Park and Seymour Place. Its a scenic ride with safer options depending on your desire for an adrenalin rush.
