Hi there, hope you are all well. We were meant to do another France C2C last summer than this summer, and that is looking unlikely at the moment, but could change. As a back up, I was thinking of LEJOG or JOGLE. Never been interested in it because of our roads and weather, however, maybe needs must.

Is there a rough route, we are not racing up or down the country. Maybe we can detour off it. I think it is normaly 7-10days right? Happy to do 2weeks, will have a van supporting us, wont be camping, but B&B etc. Is there a link for hints and tips for the ride, i see there are a few topics on here about staying off certain roads etc.

Does it make any difference which way you go, obs it is all down hill from Scotland - right? ;) lol

My route was this one: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/8592623
Main preference for me was not to ride long distances on the A9 (the lot of the 'East Coast' warrior), or the A82: had to do some from Corran ferry to Ft William (Banavie) and from the Commando memorial (Spean Bridge) to Drumnadrochit but dived off all I could on parallel roads/towpaths (eg from Banavie and from Bridge of Oich to Ft Augustus).

Given the many, many route alternatives, any challenges with accommodation will likely be confined to the school holidays and to the pre-start and post-finish nights. Van support offers significant flexibility. But even otherwise, starting the day within 15 miles of Land's End offers very very many beds. JoG less provided for. Thurso and Wick both within 20 miles and both have a train service (but bike spaces will be the challenge, but not for the OP with a van). I took the ferry to the Orkneys and then the overnight ferry to Aberdeen (I flew south but plenty of train seats available).

I did it two years ago and this is my write up. Each page contains the actual Strava route https://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?o=2sf&doc_id=21953&v=J9 -. I was generally very happy with my route, and particularly the bits along the Wye Valley that I did differently from the original plan

This was the original route plan that I vary from slightly on the way https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29976365

If you need it I have the ride across Britain GPX routes saved in a folder and can be seen here https://www.dropbox.com/sh/cb4qwt0exw964ez/AABDgiuwgCrxbBzqdo5VeErIa?dl=0

It's going to be busy this year, and probably next. You may struggle for accommodation.
Maybe we could sell our accomodation and car hire bookings for a massive profit, stay at home and drink our Ill gotten gains?

I have been reading your story...off the back of it I am planning a route
The route you have quoted https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29976365 is this very hilly?...trying to cut down on the hills!...or can someone suggest a not too hilly route
Thanks

Our LEJOG next week is a similar mileage and climbing and I've tried to reduce the climbing so that isn't "hilly" as far as lejog routes go

I did LEJOG and was glad I did it that way because I found Cornwall quite heavy going with hills and heavy motor traffic. I don't remember any hills after crossing the Bristol Channel, but that was 20+ years ago it could have changed...or my memory has dulled.

bike one, rear mech ripped off on day 5. Went home to fetch replacement bike. Stopped in Inverness due to injury then flew back a couple of months later to finish the last two days on a rented bike
