Nicely written I thought, though personally I'm not really with him at the end.

Just got back from a ride where it happened. Very serious-looking guy approaching, and there aren't a lot of cyclists around here, so you almost seem to be making some kind of point if you don't smile or say hi (not that I think cyclists should be under any firm obligation to, any more than, say, segway riders).

We get closer… closer… then it's crunch time: turn the head slightly and do the deed? I do. He doesn't. We carry on our separate ways, but I'll remember that pink jersey. Oh yes.
