I don't mean all that macho Oakley, Rayban, etc tosh, I mean glasses that don't fall to bits. Ones that are physically strong. I buy numerous pairs of +2.5 reading glasses, mainly for fairly delicate close-up work while making stuff. They get abused and the frames and hinges pack up. Does anybody make pairs that don't need coddling? I don't care what they look like in the slightest. Either of these extremes would be fine.

All suggestions would be welcome. Thank you.

I think of reading glasses as disposable. Get them in fives off eBay for a quid or two a pop.

I have the same problem.

Screw came out of my last pair today. I'm normally quite good at keeping on top of tightening the screws every once in a while. But, lately, this pair of glasses needed retightening each time i used them. Even though the screw came out and the arm came off in my jacket pocket the screw is nowhere to be found. I needed them this evening though for some detailing on the dolls house i'm 'making' so, i've repaired them as can be seen below:

I was about to congratulate you for using a fish hook to suspend the lenses from the side of your forehead!

They look very pretty, but they have flimsy "lifestyle accessory" written all over them. Sorry.
Fair enough.
What's the common part that keeps failing. The hinges coming loose on the frames, or the screws holding the hinges together?

Hinges break. Frames round the lenses break. They just don't seem to be designed for my real world, more for Jane Austin or somebody.

Edit: ARRRRGGGGH Austen actually.

Nowt from the hands, from what you're using, making it's way onto the frames?
Is it usually over the bridge of nose that's giving.
