What about walking on the outside of female companions when strolling along the pavement. Raising ones hat or a token gripping between finger and thumb (right hand) when introduced to a female. Opening the door for a female ( I use the word 'female' rather than 'lady' in these PC times)

Apart from raising ones hat or token hand grip, I do all those things. Does that make me old fashioned, traditional or sexist? The one which even amazes me is that I open the car door for my girlfriend to get in. She's perfectly capable, but I know she likes it. When doing so, I've even heard onlookers remark on it, "He opens the door for his wife, you don't"!

I ALWAYS open the car door for overseas business visitors, male or female. It's a nice little gesture and it saves them the embarrassment of getting into the driver's seat, which happens surprisingly often. It's part of the whole thing of showing care for their safety and comfort while they are my guest.

I always open the car door for the MIL. Mind you, we do have child locks and I'm certainly not letting her in the front with me.
