I feel compelled to defend the actions of this PCSO

I can't....

IMO, It's not your responsibility to offer excuses for their bad behaviour.

Makes you think if they lie about something like that, just how far they would go?

That is aimed at the individual concerned - not the establised good majority.

There used to be three local PCSOs that would often ride their bikes through the city center high street. Peds were much amused tbh and you would often see them comment as they rode past. I havent seen them do it in over a year now, so I presume someones had a word, LOL!

And they are not coppers, lol! Has anyone seen the Mitchell and Webb sketches on PCSOs? So, so funny!!!:biggrin:

PCSO = C.H.I.M.P.S

(Completely hopeless in most policing situations)

I'm going to defend PCSOs. There are some cracking PCSOs in the division here. They may be somewhat limited with what powers they have but have done an absolutely spot on job with building ties with the local community (they are part of the neighbourhood policing family after all). People are more likely to talk to them and pass on information about the bad eggs in the locality whereas they wouldn't with the Regulars (CBMs excepted). The local kids all know the PCSOs allocated to their wards and are happy to chat with them (one little lad gave vital information on another older kid who had done a spate of robberies at school for example).

Okay in this instance the PCSO was a complete numpty, but why tar PCSOs as a whole based on the actions of a minority (I am not a PCSO by the way).

Surely they are a good idea to deal with minor situations, for example there was a fire on my road at work, police come and closed the road, two police officers standing there stopping people going down.

10 minutes later van puls up 2 PCSO take over police are free to go and 'police' surely better than having two coppers standing there doing 'nothing'.

I heard it described the other day quite nicely, they have filled the void left by the park keeper and bus conductor not hugely powerful but keep thing in check.

My Mrs likes them she feels safer - she accepts that they are not police officers but she knows if somthing happens they will do somthing (albeit only call for back up!)
