Trying to refine what's on the bike so I can run it lighter on these nice warm days.

It's 20km door-to-door, once out of town A there's no option other than self-sufficiency, i..e. no rail-bail alternative, no buses, and no chance of a taxi picking up a broken down cyclist and their bike, until one gets to town B 19km further on.

I'm thinking

Multi-tool
Spare tube
Puncture kit/patches
Tyre boot
Tyre levers
Pump
CO2
Spare chain link
Spoke key

is all I need?

Too little or too much?

Pump, tyre levers and a couple of spare tubes should be enough. Keep the bike clean and well maintained and you would be very unlucky to need any of the other stuff, saying that you would get them all in a saddle bag if you want the peace of mind. I wouldn't bother either way with the puncture kit/patches, two spare tubes should be more than enough.

c02 AND a pump?
spoke key,iv NEVER had to replace a spoke or even kinda true a wheel en route ,iv broke spokes but just released the brake arms for a buckled wheel ,and put it in a shop when i can
personally for me id have 2 tubes ,tyre levers and co2.multi tool and chain breaker
you cant cover every eventuality
