I'll be there. probably riding in from Wymondham again, and ducking out early! :heat:
As an incentive to the rest of you to finish the course, I've sacrificed the space I'd usually devote to a waterproof to carry some shortbread I made earlier this evening - I'd be grateful if someone will let me dump it in their car or round at TF's place to save me lugging it up all the flat hills en route.

Congrats on the win, dr_pink!

Having ducked out early just after the Dove Cottage stop, pushing hard through Granby, Barnstone, Langar and Bingham, I got back to Carlton about 13:45, just before the heavens opened! Hope you managed to dodge the showers on the rest of the ride!

Thanks for another superb ride, TF :thumbsup: One of these days I'll manage a whole one!

No we got wet :angry::laugh:

Good to see you again and thanks for the donation :thumbsup:

Cheers TF and Dr_P and Kiwi and Poacher for the ride tea and cakes:hungry: and nice to meet you 4F as well.

Nice ride with excellent company and great weather. Thanks TF and dr_pink for most excellent hospitality and supply of cakes afterwards and it was nice to meet you Kiwi_sal, Poacher and OFF. Drive back to the flatlands was a breeze and I got home at 6. Look forward to September

Well we nearly made it, rained at mile 52 out of 55 at which point [after dr_pink had gone ahead to put the kettle on!] we dived under a very strategically placed tree which kept us dry.
Thanks to all of you that came we really enjoyed that one as it was a route we don't use that often. All except Poacher [and he is a hero for supplying us with superb shortbread] drove considerable distances to be here so thank you again for making a great day. These are what forum rides are about and here's to many more of them. Will post up some pics tomorrow as busy catching up with Olympic action for a while.

Great ride and great company. Lovely to meet some new faces as well.

Rutland is a truly pretty place. I cant believe how much ground we covered in a short space of time.

Many many thanks to TF and Dr Pink for putting me up. It saved me what otherwise would have been an exceptionally early start.

BTW....I'm still dreaming about that enigma

As promised, sorry I only took 5 photos,
This is taken just before Burrough on the Hill with the Charnwood hills in the far distance.

The all important tea stop, Dove Cottage which is run entirely by volunteers for the hospice a little further along the road.

Three pics taken on the move, the last one was a fast run to make Wymondham windmill bike shop and tea rooms before the rain struck [we didn't stop for tea just to ogle bikes]

We actually stopped for quite a long time, because we called in at two places but still got back for 14.30 which made it possible to stuff our faces again and for those who had to travel to get back at a reasonable time, maybe this is a better way of doing things?
