Whereas if you fly Airfrance, the fare is so steep you may really end up worthless
Anyway, because RA is the only good way to fly from Yorkshire to Limoges, a huge number of ex-pats and people I know use them regularly and frequently on the short flights from E. Mids and Liverpool. It has proved an excellent way to travel with the possibility of paying extremely little. The puntuality is remarkable (I often meet people at Limoges airport) in fact they are usually early and if you have only hand baggage is about as quick to leave the aircraft as it is getting off a train.
They are now very strict about hand baggage being within the size/weight allowance which is great if you are pig-sick of fellow passengers who think they can take what they like and fill up all the overhead locker space to avoid paying for their suitcases.
Of course the somewhat draconian way in which they adhere to their stated terms and conditions undoubtedly does upset people who make human errors and so they get criticised.
My cousin who owns an aviation safety consultancy has assured me that Ryanair standards of safety are equal to the best in the business. Mind you, he was an RAF Phantom pilot so his ideas of safety won't include comfort!
