Just working on a rebuild and need more gears. Someone must have gone this route before me so what are my options please for more hill climbing ability. The chain wheels and wheels are nice so would like to keep the original kit if possible. Thank you !

Yes, I think so, just been messing with too many bikes this week and suddenly have doubts ! Will check in the morning.

If so, then Shimano 12-28 7sp screw on are readily available... just put one on my Randoneur

I might have one of those lying in garage looking for a good home. Can have a look tomorrow if you like.

You might need a washer on the drive side, it depends on the frame and how close the smallest cog runs to the chainstay.

Finally got to look again at it and its a screw on block, plus I have a a Shimano in my spares that i bought for a chap and he did not show up with his bike. Was annoying , now pleasing. Thanks everyone for advice.
