Aw sad news but hats off again for giving him that bit more time with his loved ones.

You did twice in a few weeks what most of us will never do in a lifetime. On BOTH accounts you did something to be extremely proud of: you were there and you did what you could.

Old Stan had a couple of shorter extra innings for which I'm sure meant a lot to him and his family.

Tremendous kudos to you, numbnuts.

Ditto, can't add much more to the above.

You helped keep him going until he got to hospital.

This might sound a bit callous but, if they couldn't help him then no one could, it just looks like his time was up.

Thanks to you his friends and family had time to prepare and say goodbye properly, they'll always be grateful to you for that.
 
As said above, you did what you could, and gave him a chance to recover.

Unfortunately at some point the ability to recover simply is not there, nothing that can be done

The "bright side" is that he died in comfort and warmth, all to many of his age do not have that
