Hi,

I've tried everything for my saddle soreness: chamois cream, new saddle, bike fitting, 'proper gear'.
Nothing has worked so I have to bite the bullet and spend some serious money. I have been advised to get assos tights.
The offer on the websites is bewildering. Can anyone name a specific product that is assos winter bib tight?
Also, I have been told to get a reskin patch? Can anyobe recommend website where I could purchase same?

Thanks in advance,
M.S.

Hi there. Not in a patronising way by any means, but have you given your saddle/s time to get used to them?
Also, quite a few people here seem to wax lyrical about Charge and Selle saddles. I have a Selle italia myself and it has been really comfy from day one. Maybe I was just lucky, or I'm a hard ass! Welcome anyway.

Who advised that?

Fast and careful!
Good bibs are part of the way forward, they have a bomb proof pad keep them soft with chamois and they tend to stay supple,I am more prone to sores more in the winter than the heat of the summer if I don't concentrate on my pre ride prep, does the saddle fit, your sit bones, the design of a good fitting and fitted saddle can prevent sores, always worth a discreet chat in your lbs
If the sores get too bad a trip to the docs, they can get infected,
If you are new to cycling your body may need time to adjust to cycling more miles,

Both myself & my OH love our assos kit, but I can assure you they are not necessarily the solution you are looking for.
I am still trying hard to find a comfortable saddle for my touring bike, though I do have one for my road bike and my mountain bike.

Comfort on the saddle comes down to many things, including a correctly fitting bike and your personal hygiene.

As for a specific winter big tights try here http://www.assosfactoryoutlet.com/men/knickers-tights/winter-ll-s5-black-1961.html just don't expect it to cure the problem.

What saddles have you tried, i would not spend fortunes on padded bottoms till you have got a reasonable saddle,

I love my Assos gear but I don't think it's the answer to your problem. I have issues with my mtb saddle and Assos bibs just don't help.
Saddle and saddle position are more important. I can do 40 miles on my road bike and Brooks saddle, without any padding at all.

You need to explain the exact nature of the saddle soreness - it it chafing and superficial skin soreness or deeper bruising?

What are you wearing now?

Can you post a sideways-on picture of the bike with a clear shot of the saddle? There are a lot of experienced cyclists on here and they will certainly be able to help if you give some information.

Ok, first off, I have had the new saddle (specialized) for 2 months now and cycle 4 days a week.
I already had the bike fitted ...twice. The people in the bike shop are treating me like a crank and I don't want to go back there yet again with this problem.

I am taking about saddle soreness, not saddle sores i.e. this is literally a pain in the a**e. Short of purchasing a new posterior, I am at a loss as to what else I can do.

Who advise assos? A guy in my bike club.
Thanks you all for your help thus far.

Go to your local Assos dealer and try on the options and then hand over your credit card!

Did you get the Specialized saddle using their measuring system? Is the saddle at the correct angle? Is it a saddle with a cutout which can be helpful depending on where the soreness is? Assume you are using a saddle appropriate to your gender!
