Some people who work from home do a mock commute in the morning - otherwise known as an early morning bike ride.

Not sure If I could do it as I prefer to be going somewhere rather than in a loop but thats just me.

I know I read about these mock commutes somewhere, it was either here or on Cycling+. It seemed to work.

why bother in rush hour in the morning and at 5pm, just start work early then go for a couple of hours ride before lunch when the roads are quieter, that way only one outing is necessary.

I like to get up early 6 - 7 am ish and get some work done then go for a ride at 9am ish when all the school/work traffic has died down.

Of course this is when the roads arent sheet ice ;) I was looking forward to riding while to schools are off the roads are nice and quiet .............. oh well

The perfect opportunity if you're anyhting like me and ALWAYS forget something at the shops.
Set aside a given time every morning at some point
Go out and get, say, the paper one morning
bread the next
milk the next
etc - different basics every day via the nicest routes you can devise.
Makes the big shopping less of a hassle too.
