I have just ordered a new mobile phone, i wanted an android phone but given how much i use a phone i was not allowed by SWMBO to have a contract phone so i got a good deal on a Samsung S5620 Monte.

It runs Samsungs own OS (Bada) and i am looking for some good apps , hopefully ones i can use for cycling like trackers, heart rate , cycle computer etc and some fun ones games etc .
In fact anything useful or fun !

I am hoping to get a wifi thingy for the pc to connect the phone to the net to save data usage.

That's a dog of a phone as with thr bada os you're stuck with the samsung store with only 3000 apps though if you do a search
You'll find a number of sports tracking apps if you do a search on bada and sports but you should have checked before buying

Only 3000 apps lol i think i will manage , i used to spend£10 over 3 months on PAYG calls + txts

As i stated i did want an android phone but the Monte offered the best deal for what use i will get out of it, can you point to some apps please rather than just saying its bad?

Well that may be 2990 how to pick your trainers apps
Apple boasting about the number of apps on their app store isn't worth snuff without a quality measure,
indication of amount of duplication etc etc
I'll second Waveboys suggestion as imapmyride+ looks like it has less features.

Been using the Samsung Wave for over a year now and whilst Bada might not be as big as Android, it still has a reasonable (and loyal) group of users:

For GPS applications, check out (search for them through the Bada app store once you connect via wifi, these are just information websites)
sMove - http://www.badaforums.net/tag/smove/
badaSports - http://developer.bada.com/developer/apis/contest/challengeView.do

I use sMove myself - was a quid cheaper than badaSports. Does all the regular distance, speed, time, approx. energy use stuff. It can export these details to .gpx file format (same as what Garmin GPS units use) and I upload them to my ridewithgps.com account.

Games and such may be specific to what the phone can handle - browse the Bada app store here:

I have a problem you might be able to solve, samsung kies will not install on my pc , i keep getting exception errors whenever i try to run it so i cant download anything from samsungapps onto my pc to install it onto the phone .I have tried using the discs that came with the phone, downloading the file and checking my dotnetfix is up to date .
Very odd

Asa for the cycle apps do they need an active internet connection to download data or do they just track via gps ?

Actually, after some reading the Monte was never released with Bada...
Who told you it was?

Yeah sorry - no Bada apps for you then
As for KIE's... yeah, its a bit pap - Samsung; good at hardware but for the love of God outsource your software.
The fatal exception errors crop up for different reasons depending on the version used - are you using the latest version of KIE's? Best best is to Google around.
